Virginia Tech vs Notre Dame Has Bigger CFP Implications Than You Think
This game is way more important for both of these teams than you think. With Virginia Tech coming in as the No.24 team and Notre Dame coming in as the No.6 team. This top 25 matchup will have a major impact on the CFP race.
Why This Game Is Important for Notre Dame?
Notre Dame has played two top 15 teams to start the season beating Michigan and Stanford. With Notre Dame having a pretty easy schedule for the rest of the season this game is a must win for Notre Dame. Especially with the Irish not playing in a conference championship game, Notre Dame needs as many top 25 wins they can get. If the Irish win out and beat three top 25 teams this will put a lot of pressure on the CFP committee to put them in the playoff over a team who has won a conference championship.
Why This Game Is Important for Virginia Tech?
Two weeks ago this team looked dead in the water as the Hokies suffered a upset loss to Old Dominion and starting QB Josh Jackson suffered a broken fibula in the game. Backup QB Ryan Willis played very good and the team bounced back nicely against No.22 Duke. If the Hokies want to have any
chance of making the CFP they have to win this game, beat Miami, win the Coastal division, and beat Clemson in the ACC title game. Even if the Hokies win out that ODU loss will be looming large on the Hokies resume.
The game will be played at 8PM in Blacksburg, Virginia and will be televised on ABC.
