Winners And Losers Of Week Five
Week five provided College Football fanatics College Football with many unexpected twists and turns. Lets see what teams impressed in week five, and what teams didn’t fair too well.
WINNER: OHIO STATE
The Buckeyes had by far the hardest challenge of week five. The Urban Meyer led squad traveled to the second largest stadium in College Football to take on the 9th ranked Penn State Nittany Lions. And Things didn’t look pretty when the Buckeyes fell down 13-0 in the first half. However, a halftime resurgence by quarterback Dwayne Haskins led the Buckeyes to the nail biting victory.
LOSER: SYRACUSE
The Orange had the perfect opportunity to beat Clemson for the second year in a row. But a defensive meltdown on Clemson’s last drive let the Tigers escape and remain unbeaten. The Tigers were led in the second half by third string quarterback, Chase Brice. Meanwhile the Syracuse offense that sliced up the top ranked Tiger defense in the 1st half, was held to just a single TD in the second half.
WINNER: KENTUCKY
The Wildcats continued to navigate their difficult SEC schedule. And, of course week five featured another challenge that the Wildcats brushed aside. Kentucky dominated South Carolina by a final score of 24-10. The Wildcats were led by their flamboyant leader, Benny Snell. Snell rushed for 99 yards in the Wildcats victory on Saturday.
LOSER: AUBURN
Auburn beat Southern Miss on Saturday, but it was by a slim margin. The Tigers edged out the Golden Eagles by a final score of 24-13. AU quarterback, Jarrett Stidham continued to struggle. Stidham completed just 19 passes for 245 yards. Auburn will need to improve fast if they want to challenge Alabama in the SEC.
