Clemson Will Regret Not Making Kelly Bryant Their Starting Quarterback
Earlier this week Clemson announced that Freshman QB Trevor Lawrence would start over Senior QB Kelly Bryant against Syracuse. A day later Bryant announced that he would be transferring from Clemson. Then against Syracuse, Lawrence went out of the game with a injury forcing inexperienced redshirt Freshman Chase Brice into the game down 16-7. Luckily for Clemson they prevailed winning the game 27-23, but what if this was against a better team like a Georgia, Alabama, or Ohio State in a high pressure situation. Would Trevor Lawrence be able to come through? Kelly Bryant proved he could handle these situations. One example is earlier in the year at Texas A&M. Lawrence was having trouble moving the ball early in the second half in a high pressure environment. Then on the next drive Bryant came in the game and led the Tigers to a touchdown. On the next drive Bryant led the Clemson offense to another key touchdown. This was a game Clemson won by two points. So I’m not trying to say Trevor Lawrence won’t be a great Quarterback, I think he will be, I just don’t think that he’s ready to start this year.
