Predicting the Winner of every Top 25 Game Week 5
We will be doing game-by-game predictions for every Top 25 team every week and keeping a record of our accuracy.
Record 60-13 (82%)
Virginia Tech at No. 22 Duke
Virginia Tech suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in CFB history last week losing to an 0-3 Old Dominion team and lost their starting QB for the season in the process. It would be easy to predict a hot Duke team to win here, but VT is still a top 20 Talent in CFB and should win a close one.
Virginia Tech 31-21
No. 4 Ohio State at No. 9 Penn State
RedCup game of the week for good reason. Both teams boast elite quarterbacks and Top 10 defenses. Ohio State is a bit more talented and Penn State is at home, so we’ll call that a push. Bosa’s absence is at least a 3-point swing so we’ll take Penn State in a close one.
Penn State 27-24
No. 7 Stanford at No. 8 Notre Dame
This is the first time since 2005 that 2 top 10 teams have squared up at Notre Dame. Notre Dame’s elite defense has allowed over 17 point only once this season will need to bottle up Bryce Love in order to keep that streak alive.
Notre Dame 34-17
South Carolina at No. 17 Kentucky
Kentucky is arguably the hottest team in the country and Benny Snell Jr. is a legit Heisman contender. Combine that with a better defense, and Kentucky seems like one of the best second tier teams in the SEC. Riding the wave here.
Kentucky 34-31
No. 20 BYU at No. 11 Washington
BYU has surprised everyone this year. A win in week 5 could give their team some legit claims for a high-level bowl game. With that being said, Washington’s secondary will limit BYU’s passing game, and their offense should have no problem cracking 30 points.
Washington 37-13
No. 12 West Virginia at No. 25 Texas Tech
Texas Tech dominated No. 15 Oklahoma State 41-17 last week and showed that they may be legit contenders in the Big 12. This game will be huge for them against one of the best offenses in the country in WVU. Alan Bowman has surprised many this year putting up video game stats, but at the end of the day Will Grier and WVU should run up the score and prove too much for the inexperienced TTU offense.
West Virginia 48-32
No. 19 Oregon at No. 24 California
The over/under on this game is Oregon -1.5. That is close. Very close. In close games you need a QB you can trust to make tough passes when the game is on the line. Justin Herbert can make those throws. Unconfidently picking Oregon by a late TD.
Oregon 38-31
Louisiana at No. 1 Alabama
Alabama 58-6
Syracuse at No. 3 Clemson
Clemson 48-17
Central Michigan at No. 21 Michigan State
Michigan State 45-13
Tennessee at No. 2 Georgia
Georgia 45-16
Baylor at No. 6 Oklahoma
Oklahoma 45-31
Pittsburgh at No. 13 UCF
UCF 35-24
No. 18 Texas at Kansas State
Texas 31-13
Ole Miss at No. 5 LSU
LSU 38-17
Southern Miss at No. 10 Auburn
Auburn 54-13
No. 14 Michigan at Northwestern
Michigan 42-24
Florida at No. 23 Mississippi State
Florida 32-24
