Competitive Games:
San Diego State Vs. 13 Stanford
San Diego State beat Stanford last season when running back Rashaad Penny, the nation’s rushing leader, had 175 yards on 32 carries. He is gone. Bryce Love is not. Stanford won’t trample San Diego State but beating them by double digits isn’t out of question.
Stanford 27-17
Tennessee Vs. 17 West Virginia
Tennessee has a new coach with a lot of question marks on both sides of the ball and unproven talent at every position. WVU has arguably the best passing offense in the nation
WVU 47-37
FAU Vs. 7 Oklahoma
Devin Singeltary is one of the best running backs in the nation and Lane Kiffin definitely has some tricks under his sleeve, but Oklahoma is the more talented team. The -21 Oklahoma spread is a bit much in my opinion, but unless Murray struggles to move the ball Oklahoma should have control of this game.
Oklahoma 34-24
22 Boise State Vs. Troy
Boise State Vs. Troy is the best Group of 5 matchup of the week and could be a very close game. Troy will stick with them in the beginning, but a Boise State offense heavily leaning on Alexander Mattison will be too much for the trojans.
Boise State 24-13
23 Texas Vs. Maryland
Last year Maryland upset Texas in one of the better games of the season. That isn’t so likely this year. Texas has been recruiting like Bama and has one of the best defenses in college football. D.J. Moore is gone, and Maryland doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up with Texas’s defense.
Close Calls:
6 Washington Vs. 9 Auburn
The top pure football matchup of the week pins the Pac 12’s best team and an SEC contender against one another. Jared Stidham and this year’s Auburn team is one of the best in the country, but Washington has the one of the best defenses in the country and a Top QB in Jake Browning. If Washington wins this one, it’s not hard to see them as the first Pac 12 team in the CFB playoffs in recent memory.
Washington 24-23
14 Michigan Vs. 12 Notre Dame
Jim Harbaugh finally has a talented QB to play with and Rashad Gary leads a Michigan team on the other end of the ball. Picking the lower ranked team on the road is usually not a recipe for success, but Michigan just looks like the better football team.
Michigan 24-18
8 Miami Vs. 25 LSU
This is the best Miami team in the past few years and matches up well with LSU on both sides of the ball. LSU has a great defense, but the offense just isn’t there. Miami squeaks by in a close one.
Miami 27-23
20 Virginia Tech Vs. 19. Florida State
Had Francois not gotten hurt last season, FSU would have been challenging for a Top 10 team. VT lost a ton on defense and won’t have enough talent to keep up with the two headed monster of Cam Akers and Francois.
Florida State 38-17
The Locks: Don’t really need to go into too much detail on any of these games as most of them seem to be locks and blowouts.
Western Kentucky Vs.4 Wisconsin
Wisconsin 48-10
Utah State Vs.11 Michigan State
Michigan 45-13
Louisville Vs.1 Alabama
Alabama 42-20
Oregon State Vs.5 Ohio State
