Kevin Porter Jr. NBA Draft Scouting Report and Pro Comparison
Measurables:
- Age: 19
- Height: 6’5.5″
- Wingspan: 6’9″
- Weight: 212 LBs
Strengths:
Great athlete. Elevates very well.
Very good shot creator. Can create space for a jumper and get to the hoop for an easy look.
Played some good defense in limited minutes.
Just turned 19 in May. Tons up upside.
Very good shooter from all over the court.
Weaknesses:
Very unproven. Only averaged 22.1 MPG.
Oddly he’s a terrible FT shooter. 52.2 FT% (Also on only 46 shots).
Very raw. Will likely need 1-2 years in the G League.
Streaky shooter. Scored 10+ in only 11 games.
Pro Comparison:
Raw Zach LaVine
Freak athletes who have enough talent to be very good players, but sometimes get lost in the offense and hoist up dumb shots. Both are very good shooters and finishers at the rim, but don’t really make an impact in the game outside of scoring and being athletic.
NBA Draft Outlook:
10-20 Range.
Ideal Fits:
Orlando at 16:
Orlando will likely be looking for a PG at 16, but if their isn’t a player thats high on their board, they may instead beef up the 2 guard slot. His scoring upside and athleticism would be a nice project with a similar age range to the talented front court members.
Boston at 14 or 20:
Boston has enough depth and will likely be looking for some upside/Euroleague guys to develop. Porter Jr. is one of those things. He could be the No. 1 option in the G League for a bit and develop in the Celtic’s backcourt.
