Tyler Herro NBA Draft Scouting Report and Pro Comparison
Measurables:
- Age: 19
- Height: 6’6″
- Wingspan: 6’3.25″
- Weight: 192 LBs
Strength:
Elite shooter. Fluid motion with limitless range.
Has shown playmaking ability, especially later in the season.
Will be one of the best Free Throw shooters in the NBA. 93.5 FT%.
Projects as a decent defender.
Can hit shots off the dribble.
Weaknesses:
Not an elite athlete.
Streaky from beyond the arc.
Doesn’t get to the line very much.
Very short arms (6’3.25″) for size. Limits defensive potential.
Pro Comparison:
J.J. Reddick
This is a bit of a lazy comparison, but Herro’s ability to hit contested 3’s off the dribble and on the catch off screens reminds me a lot of Reddick. Both have short arms for their height, but are decent defenders due to quick feet and understanding where to be.
NBA Draft Outlook:
14-21 Range.
Ideal Fits:
Boston at 14 or 20:
Boston has some great athletes, but they don’t really have any true shooters. Herro would provide a potential elite shooter who can stretch the floor for the developing young players. Horford’s passing out of the post would be a major benefit in getting open looks.
Detroit at 15:
Having two All-Star caliber big men and very little talent around them generally clogs up the paint. Herro can hit difficult shots off screens and benefit from wide open corner 3s when Griffin/Drummond are double teamed.
