Strengths:
Great size for a PG at 6’5.5″. Operates well from the low post.
Above average shooter. Can stretch floor off-ball.
Very smart player. Understands how to run an offense.
Pesk on defense. Uses size and motor to bully smaller guards.
National Champion. Knows how to win.
Weaknesses:
Short wingspan for height.
Lacks explosive first step off dribble. May have difficulty in 1 on 1 coverage.
Lack of speed limits ability to be a playmaker.
NBA Comparison:
Greivis Vasquez
Big Guard who uses great playmaking skills to make the most out of his lack of natural gifts. Offensively the are very good shooters and can score on smaller guards in the post. Lack of athleticism limits their ability to consistently score off drives.
NBA Draft Outlook:
28-40
Ideal Fits:
Phoenix at 32:
Suns have a massive hole at PG and Ty Jerome’s experience could help the young Suns players similarly to how Malcolm Brogdon did with the Bucks his rookie season. Him and Devin Booker would be an interesting Backcourt.
Chicago at 38:
Kris Dunn has been good, but hasn’t proven he’s a starting NBA point Guard. If Jerome falls, he would be a great pickup who can play major minutes right away and make the young bulls players better with his playmaking. Him and LaVine would be a complimentary combo.
