Chuma Okeke NBA Scouting Report and Pro Comparison
Measurables:
- Age: 20
- Height: 6’8″
- Wingspan: 7’0″
- Weight: 235 LBs
Strengths:
Generates blocks (1.2) and steals (1.8) at a great rate.
Very versatile defender. Matches up well 2-4.
Really promising as a stretch four. 387 3PT%.
NBA athlete. Has speed and fluidity.
Weaknesses:
Struggles to create own shot offensively.
Tweener. Stuck between 3/4 spot.
Coming off major injury. Could miss whole season.
NBA Comparison:
Noah Vonleh with a corner 3.
Great athleticism at the PF slot, both of these guys are plus defenders with some good offensive skills. Unable to consistently create offense, they largely rely on catch and shoot jumpers and finishing off cuts.
NBA Draft Outlook:
Probably still a first rounder, but may drop into the early second. I’d say 25-35. Was projected in the 15-20ish range prior to injury.
Ideal Fits:
Brooklyn at 27 or 31:
Brooklyn doesn’t have a solid long term option at the 4 and Okeke would be a nice pickup due to his combination of athleticism and 3/D potential.
Phoenix at 32:
Outside of Ayton, nobody in the Sun’s front-court has proven themselves as a decent long term option. Okeke’s defense and shooting would fit well next to post player DeAndre Ayton. The Suns are in no rush to win and would give Okeke more than enough time to get to 100%.
